Q: I have an older Senoh Net System, are the new parts compatible with my system?
A: While some changes have occurred due to system improvements (like with ratchets and crank handles) the principle system components (like nets, pads, and official stands) are completely interchangeable and have never become obsolete.
Q: Can I use my volleyball uprights for badminton?
A: Yes! Badminton nets may be tied to any of our uprights, but badminton is especially convenient with the DE11 and DE60 uprights since they have a pin ring at the badminton net height.
Q: What is the difference between the three Senoh nets, HM50, HM50XL, and VP2032S?
A: The HM50 and HM50XL nets have a Technora™ cable running through the top, which looks like a cotton rope. The Technora™ cable is stronger than steel and is easier to work with than a steel cable because it will never kink, curl, or fray. The VP2032S net has a standard steel cable running through the top instead of the Technora™ cable. The HM50XL net should be used when the space between uprights is 38-42 feet. The regular HM50 or VP2032S nets can be used for spans up to 38 feet.
Q: Is the DE10 the best upright, since it is more expensive than the other uprights?
A: It depends on your individual need. The internal gearing system of the DE10 allows for infinite height adjustment (between 6' and 8'2") allowing for pinpoint net height settings. For most applications, the DE11 or AL7 pin-stop uprights will be sufficient. However, there are three situations where the DE10 may be the way to go. (1) For very high-level competitions where fine-tuning of the net height is needed. (2) In facilities where multiple playing surfaces are used. For example, regular season competitions may be held directly on the permanent wooden gym floor, whereas a Sport Court™ or Taraflex™ floor may be put down on top of the gym floor for a tournament. These temporary surfaces can add ¼" - 1" or more to the height of the permanent floor making it necessary to fine tune the upright for the proper net height. (3) In facilities where our standard sleeve cannot be used (usually due to structural issues), the DE10's height adjustment versatility may be an advantage.
Q: I really like the functionality of the DE10 upright because of its fine-tuning capability, is it available in aluminum?
A: Yes, the AL10 is the aluminum version of the DE10 steel upright; it employs the same internal gearing system for infinite net height settings (between 6'5" to 8'6").
Q: Which is the better volleyball upright material, carbon fiber, steel or aluminum?
A: It depends on your individual preference. Steel is a stronger, harder material increasing its long-term durability. Aluminum is a softer material, which flexes more under tension, but is lighter in weight allowing for easier transport. The latest technology -- carbon fiber — offers the best combination of strength with the lightest weight material on the market today. Sports Imports offers all three: carbon fiber, steel and aluminum. Our new carbon fiber “Stealth” volleyball uprights offer the strength of steel in our lightest product, weighing only 26 pounds per upright. They provide deflection performance nearly as good as our flagship steel upright, the Senoh DE11. The DE11 offers the best durability and performance available in the marketplace today, weighing 55 lbs. per upright with minimal deflection under tension. The AL7 aluminum upright weighs 35 lbs. per upright.
Q: Why do my volleyball uprights appear to be leaning in when my court is setup?
A: All volleyball uprights will flex inward when under tension. The degree to which this happens should be minimal. The upright should never take a permanent set (bend permanently) and should never lean in when not under tension. If the flex appears to be excessive, call Sports Imports, you may have a loose sleeve.
Q: How can I get your equipment installed?
A: Your maintenance department or a local contractor can install the floorplates and sleeves. If you are in the Midwest, we have our own crews who can do the work. For customers outside this area, we can refer qualified installers directly to you. Sports Imports is available 8:30-5:30 EST to assist with any questions your installer may have.
A: FIVB stands for the Fèdèration Internationale de Volleyball, the international governing body for the sport of volleyball located in Lausanne, Switzerland. Senoh Volleyball Net Systems are the only ones ever endorsed by the FIVB.
Q: What if I already have floor sleeves in my gym floor and I want to switch to Senoh?
A: The first thing to do is measure the diameter of the existing sleeves. Most sleeves fit 3", 3 ½", or 4" uprights. Since the Senoh volleyball uprights are 3" in diameter, it makes it very easy to adapt existing sleeves. A simple custom adapter inserts into larger existing sleeves to modify them for use with the smaller diameter Senoh uprights. They never have to be physically altered to fit a smaller hole like larger uprights do. The original intended factory design of the upright itself is never modified. Click here for more information.
Q: What is the proper setting for men and women's net heights?
A: For the DE10, DE11, and DE60 uprights, the men's height is marked as 43 and the women's as 2425. These numbers should show just above the top edge of the lower, red section of the upright (for the DE11 and DE60, the pin should be inserted in the upper hole on the lower, red section of the upright). The AL7 and AL10 uprights are marked with M for Men and W for Women (J is for Juniors). These marks should be visible just above the top edge of the lower, red section of the upright (for the AL7, the pin should be inserted in the bottom hole on the lower, red section of the upright).
Q: Can I do anything to customize my equipment for my school?
A: Yes, Sports Imports can customize FP1 upright pads with your organization's name and/or logo. Click here for more information. (should link to "Personalized Upright Pad" section of our website).
Q: We like to play Pickle-Ball at our school, can that be done with Senoh equipment?
A: Yes, the DG11 Badminton Upright can be modified with a special ring at the Pickle-Ball net height. Our combination volleyball/tennis uprights can also be used for this purpose.
Q: I think I'm in need of new equipment, how do I know what I need?
A: Our specially trained direct sales force is ready to answer your questions over the phone or in person. We make extensive trips throughout the US and, chances are, at some time or another we will be in your neighborhood.
Q: I'm considering the purchase of a new set of volleyball uprights because my older Senoh uprights have become worn looking from years of use. Do I need to do this?
A: Not necessarily. Our Upright Rejuvenation Program™ can return your used Senoh uprights to a better-than-new condition. The DE11 and DE60 uprights are stripped and repainted, the upper section will shine like new silver, and all hooks and components are repaired or replaced. A new 10-year warranty against bending is also placed on Rejuvenated uprights.
