The Story of Sports Imports

1976

In 1976, Ken and Doug discovered a revolutionary in-ground volleyball system in Japan. Recognizing its potential, Sports Imports partnered with Senoh to bring the system to the U.S. This innovation replaced unsafe guy wires with floor-mounted posts, improving player safety and transforming volleyball courts. 50 years later, this design has become the industry standard.

1981

We partnered with the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) in 1976 to help grow volleyball across the U.S. Since then, we’ve celebrated the sport’s leaders and innovators together, including through the annual Sports Imports/AVCA Courage Award, honoring resilience, dedication, and the spirit of the volleyball community.

2003

In 2003, we partnered with the NCAA to provide our high-performance volleyball net systems for all Indoor Women’s and Men’s Championships. This collaboration reinforced our commitment to quality, reliability, and precision, helping support nearly half a million student-athletes and solidifying our reputation as a trusted leader in the volleyball industry.

2012

We introduced the SI-1, the first all-carbon pin-stop volleyball net system, setting a new standard in strength, lightness, and durability. Today, it’s the preferred choice for clubs, high schools, and colleges, reflecting our commitment to innovation and forward-thinking equipment design.

2013

In 2013, we became USA Volleyball’s official indoor and outdoor net system, extending our impact to events, facilities, and coaching education nationwide. This partnership strengthened our mission to elevate the game at every level and reinforced our role as a leader in volleyball equipment.

2024

In 2024, we partnered with League One Volleyball (LOVB) to provide our official net systems for the LOVB Pro League, helping support athletes from grassroots to professional levels. By equipping the league with trusted, high-performance systems, we’re proud to play a role in shaping the future of the sport and elevating the next generation of volleyball talent.
