On December 20 in Kansas City, Sports Imports hosted Coffee with Coaches, an intimate Q&A event that brought together volleyball coaches from every level—high school, club, and collegiate—for a morning of learning, connection, and conversation with some of the game’s most experienced leaders.
The session featured Dani Busboom Kelly, head coach of Nebraska Women’s Volleyball; Craig Skinner, head coach of Kentucky Women’s Volleyball; and Erik Sullivan, head coach of the USA Women’s National Team.

Dani Busboom Kelly shared lessons from a historic start to her head coaching career at Nebraska. In her first season leading the program, Busboom Kelly guided the Huskers to an undefeated regular season, reinforcing Nebraska’s position as one of the premier programs in the country. Her perspective on leadership transitions, culture-building, and maintaining excellence resonated strongly with coaches navigating their own programs.

Craig Skinner provided insight drawn from his long-standing success at Kentucky, where he has built one of the most consistent programs in the nation. The timing of the conversation made his perspective especially relevant—later that weekend, Skinner would lead Kentucky to its second NCAA Championship Finals appearance under his coaching, underscoring the real-time impact of elite preparation and decision-making.

Erik Sullivan brought a global and high-performance lens to the discussion as head coach of the USA Women’s National Team. Drawing from international competition and national team athlete development, Sullivan emphasized adaptability, long-term growth, and the standards required to compete at the highest level of the sport.

Throughout the event, coaches engaged in candid discussion, asked thoughtful questions, and left with actionable takeaways they could apply within their own gyms. Coffee with Coaches reinforced Sports Imports’ commitment to the volleyball community—creating spaces where knowledge is shared, leaders connect, and the game continues to move forward.
