Facility Spotlight: Houston Skyline

In one of the most competitive volleyball regions in the country, Houston Skyline has established itself as a national powerhouse. Now in its 16th year, the program consistently fields teams from 14s through 18s that compete on the biggest stages, including events like Triple Crown, and has helped countless athletes advance to the collegiate level.

With 11 courts across two buildings and a reputation for high-level training, Skyline has grown into one the premier club programs in the country. What started in 2010 has evolved into a high-performance environment built on intentional growth, operational excellence, and a commitment to doing things the right way — on and off the court.

Executive Director Nathan Burk has been part of that evolution for nearly a decade. “We feel like we’re a high-quality, premium club,” Burk explains. “We wanted equipment that reflected that in our space.”

Growing the Game, and the Facility

When Skyline moved into their primary facility in 2015, it marked a turning point. The program had outgrown warehouse-style setups and temporary solutions. Leadership made a clear decision: if they were going to build a premier brand, the facility and equipment had to match.

Their mindset was simple: invest in quality once and eliminate long-term net system headaches.

Today, Houston Skyline runs exclusively on Sports Imports net systems across all 11 courts, including:

From December through May, their facility is packed with weekend tournaments. The equipment doesn’t just need to look good — it has to transition net heights quickly and perform reliably under constant use.

“You’re going to get what you pay for,” Burk says. “We’d rather have high-quality stuff that lasts and alleviates headaches down the road.”

Elite Equipment that Elevates the Program

With rapid growth comes constant court reconfiguration — especially with professional teams training in the space. That’s where the Carbon SI-1 pole has become a difference-maker.

At just 19 pounds, it allows staff and athletes to reset courts quickly without sacrificing strength or stability. “The kids have no excuses now,” Burk jokes. “You don’t need two or three people to move a pole anymore.”

Equally important is net height consistency. Skyline points to the HDNR ratchet’s reliability and long-term net height retention as a major advantage over previous systems they’ve used.

“If your net isn’t functioning during a practice or tournament, you’re down a court,” Burk says. “That’s worst-case scenario.”

For a facility hosting back-to-back events, reliability is the key to success.

Installation Done Right

Houston Skyline has completed multiple installation projects over the years, including full floor sleeve replacements when upgrading to Teraflex and adding additional courts.

For their newest four-court expansion, Sports Imports coordinated contractors and managed much of the installation process, simplifying what can otherwise be a complex engineering project. The result was a clean, professionally installed court built for daily use, consistent performance, and long-term reliability.

Built for What’s Next

Houston Skyline has built its reputation on doing things the right way, from athlete development to facility standards.

By investing in premium net systems and a long-term equipment partner, they’ve created a foundation that supports daily training, weekend tournaments, and national-level competition.

At Sports Imports, that’s exactly what we’re built for: helping elite programs perform at their highest level, on every court.
