The Volleyball Community Rallies to make the NCAA Beach Championship Memorable

May 4, 2017

A team of workers, volunteers, NCAA and Sports Imports representatives have been diligent all week preparing the beach for the 2017 National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championship.  Many of the volunteers are local high school volleyball players, local volleyball coaches and referees, excited to be a part of the Championship.  By Wednesday evening, a total of nine Sports Imports Beach Volleyball Courts were set up and ready for practice to begin.  The stage was set for the 2017 National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championship!

By evening, it became clear that mother nature had other plans.  Hurricane force winds came rolling through Gulf Shores Wednesday night causing widespread damage to the Gulf Shores area.  For many it was a restless night sleep, listening to the storms and wondering what state the venue would be left in.  As the sun rose this morning, the Volleyball Community, led by the NCAA came together to come up with a gameplan to restore the event venue.

In the aftermath of the violent storms that hit Gulf Shores last night, the Volleyball Community displayed resilience and teamwork.  By afternoon, the venue was cleared of debris, cleaned up and ready for practice.  What a fantastic sight to see such teamwork and camaraderie!  The teams were on the beach practicing this afternoon in a beautiful venue under a clear blue sky.

Sports Imports is proud to be At The Center of the 2017 NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship in Gulf Shores, Alabama.  As the “Official Beach Volleyball Net System” of the NCAA Championships, we are honored to be a part of the rapidly growing sport of beach volleyball.  In attendance, Eric Bouscher (Sports Imports South East Representative) said, “Having been a part of this event since 2012, I was very excited for beach volleyball to become an NCAA sport.  It is truly remarkable to see how the sport continues to grow every year.  This event sets the standard; the atmosphere is electric.”

Gulf Shores, Alabama has proven to be a successful site full of energy and top-notch volunteers.  Sports Imports West Coast Representative, Neil Gilbert said, “It is fantastic to be here with such an organized hardworking group of people.  So much effort goes into making the biggest stage in NCAA Beach Volleyball unforgettable.”
